Who writes it: Mignon Fogarty is the host of Grammar Girl and founder of Quick and Dirty Tips. Prior to becoming a grammar guru, Mignon was a magazine and technical writer, and an entrepreneur. Mignon has a B.A. in English from the University of Washington in Seattle and a M.S. in biology from Stanford University.
Why you should follow it: This is the best online source I’ve found for quick reference grammar. It may not be something you subscribe to or visit every day, but when you need to know the proper uses of further versus farther, lie versus lay, or whether to say eBook or e-book, she’s your gal. Posts are short, clear, and to the point. The website offers easy searches, “Top 5″ and featured tips lists. You’ll also find recommended books, included the author’s newest: The Grammar Devotional.
Caveats: The site appears chaotic. There is a lot going on and, at first glance, it just looks like a ton of ads. Take a deep breath, find the search window, and go to town. Once you figure out how to get what you want, you’ll discover this site is packed with valuable information.
